What were we thinking? Or more accurately, what was I thinking? The invitations said bounce house and barbeque and that's exactly what we did for Jasmine's 3rd birthday. Maybe a little over the top, some might say, but it all came together. The bounce house was offered from Shane's work (and Shane
worked it, setting up and breaking down) and I was happy to provide the food. All we needed were the guests to show up.

Lynn and her 4 from China, our new friends and their 2 from Korea. My mom. We couldn't have been happier (except if we had the cousins, but they were celebrating their own birthday!).
Jasmine has been talking about her party for weeks and she picked out her special outfit all by herself.
Emilie, the oldest of the young'uns was helpful at every turn.
But this picture says it all. It is
sublime. Jasmine is filled up, as content as I have ever seen her. This day was all about her, about loving her and showing her the world that she has created. Her effervescent personality, her outgoing and friendly demeanor, her charm. When it was time to sing happy birthday, she found her own chair and sat herself down without an ounce of self-consciousness and soaked it all in. It was magical. 
She was in no hurry to move and eventually all of her friends brought their gifts to her and begged her to open them. She did, carefully looking at each gift. I wasn't sure I wanted the gift-giving to take place, or even gifts for that matter, but all the kids handled it with such aplomb that I shouldn't have thought twice about it. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.
